Improve computer performance for Audio Recording
The audio is your computer's hard taxing its resources. Although this is not as big a problem as it was when we were recording on a Pentium 400 it still makes sense to practice good habits when it comes to computer hard drive. Here are some tips to speed up the audio.
Audio separate hard disk: If you can afford a disk reserved for only the audio will make things much easier for you. Only the audio files must be stored on this second disc.
Keep Your Hard Cleaning: Keep the junk out of your hard drive. The program slows down excessive system resources that could be used for things like plug and multiple tracks. Check your taskbar and see what programs are running in the background as your anti-virus or a messenger service.
Minimize: Turn off all the things that you can also make sure that you are not connected to the Internet when disabling the anti-virus.
Back Up: Always back up your computer on a regular basis. Make this a habit like a clock, or the hard drive crashes in the worst possible moment. Do not ask me how I know this.
Defrag: Defrag your computer once a week will speed up everything. The files tend to be confused when stored on the hard disk defragging and tends to fix things for you.
Format: I like to format my hard disk at least once a year even though they probably do so a couple of times a year. Things slow down the passage of time and the format is the best and quick recovery that I found. A new unit always seems to accelerate much cleaner.
Number of plugins: Plugins are one of the most taxing things you can do to your computer. When recording always use the least possible turning off anything that is not vital. Add back during playback if you need it.
Number of tracks: In the same way to see the number of tracks that you are using. The more tracks you use your computer is working harder. Use only as many as you must have. You probably do not need to back up 17-part harmonies.
If you follow these tips and use your head you will be recording sound better than you ever have before .......
